Know Weather before You Embark Upon Indian Vacation

Planning a trip to India largely depends upon its weather. It is a vast country with diverse climatic zones. While the north is covered with snow, the southern part is being splurged by tropical monsoon rain – it clearly showcases the variations in weather. Be clear what you want to do so that it will be easier to devise a plan the right time to visit India.

Looking at the varied climatic zones, the Indian Meteorological Service divides India into seven diverse climatic regions such as the Himalayas, West Bengal, Assam, North Indian Plain, the Deccan Plateau, the Eastern Ghats and the Western Ghats. North India is comparatively cooler than South India (tropical climate) and Central India (hot and arid).

Summer:

From March to May is the real summer time in the country, temperatures in most North India states exceeding 40 degrees C. Summers are the best time to visit India if you are a mountain man. Hill stations and mountains remain cool with fresh and soothing air, exotic wildlife and many more. National Parks are a must visit to spot tigers and other wildlife creatures as they come out of their comfort zone in quest of water.

Monsoon:

Monsoon in India can be classified into - the northeast monsoon and the southwest monsoon. The northeast monsoon is short-lived, but intense. It hits the east coast mainly in the months of November and December and the affected states are Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The southwest monsoon is the main monsoon that enters the country in early June and comes from the ocean. If you want to stay in India for a while during this time, Ladakh would make the most ideal place.

Winter:

The peak season in India is definitely winter. The beginning of winter marks apparent sunny skies and the disappearance of the rainy season. Traveling in the southern part of the country is the most cherishing as the temperature hovers around 20 – 30 degrees C. Temperatures might go below at night.

Locals head to north to see snow, but you can head to Goa, Kerala or Tamil Nadu to relax and do some water sports activities. November through February is the ideal time to hit the beach.
